Regional Office of Russian Professors Assembly Is Established at ASU

Astrakhan region is the 66th entity of Russia that have joined the social organization. Astrakhan State University has been chosen for holding meetings and events of the regional office as its main venue. On January 30, the university held the first meeting, involving researchers and scientific staff of Astrakhan higher educational institutions.

Administration, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities of the International Institute of Law Oleg Cherdakov. The distinguished guest told the participants about the history of the organization, its goals and areas of activity, and noted that the establishment of the regional office offers new opportunities for the regional development. Besides, the guest stressed that now special attention is paid to Astrakhan region at the federal level. It is mainly connected with strengthening of cooperation between the Caspian states.

At the first meeting, the scientists were to decide on who would head the regional office of the Assembly. By unanimous decision, the position of Chair was entrusted to Galina Stefanova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Consulting Professor of the ASU Department of Theoretical Physics & Physics Teaching Technique, while Prof. Irina Krytova, who heads the department, was elected secretary of the regional office.

Speaking about short-term plans for Assembly activities, Oleg Cherdakov outlined several upcoming events — for example, February of 2020 will see the 2nd Forum of Russian Professors Assembly with the ceremony of Professor of the Year Awards. On March 23-24, the 2020 Professors Forum “National Projects and Professors Assembly” will take place in Moscow, involving, among others, an Astrakhan delegation. As for the venue of Astrakhan State University, it will hold an interregional forum of professors as early as in the first decade of October, involving scientists from Volgograd region, Krasnodar Krai, Republic of Kalmykiya and Caspian states.
