Astrakhan State University Will Help Local Farmers with Selection
A scientific seminar “Revival of Local Fruit Crop Varieties” was held on February 07 at the ASU Educational Experimental Facility “Nachalo” and the Department of Agricultural Technologies, Engineering & Agribusiness within the framework of the public campaign “Let’s Preserve Yandykovskoe Apple for Future Generations Together”.
It should be recalled that the project “Astrakhan gardens” of ASU won the LUKOIL competition of social and cultural projects in Astrakhan region in the category “Ecology” in 2019.
Students of the majors “Agronomy” and “Agroengineering” took an active part in preparations for the seminar. In particular, the following reports attracted the greatest interest: “Prospects of Revival of Local Fruit Crop Varieties in Astrakhan Region” by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Mikhail Puchkov, “Current State of Fruit Farming in Russia and in the Region” by Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Aygul Aytpaeva and “Management of Fruit Production Process under Arid Conditions of Astrakhan Region” by Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Yuliya Shakhmedova.
The scientific seminar involved, among other invited participants, experts of the Caspian Agrarian Federal Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the branch “Astrakhan Experimental Station” of the Federal Research Centre of
N. I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources and the Astrakhan branch of the Russian Agricultural Centre.
