ASU Agricultural Students Present Their Skills to Prospective Employers

A regional agro-industrial job fair took place on February, 12 at the academic building of Astrakhan State University located in the Nachalo village. Future agricultural experts, farmers and vets met leading agricultural companies of the region and told them about their achievements in studies.

ASU has held the event for several years under support of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The audience was welcomed by Deputy Regional Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Kayum Osmanov. He noted that Astrakhan region has plenty of employment opportunities and added that those who want to run their own business are provided with state support.

The fair was attended by heads of government agencies, industrial and agricultural enterprises, professors and students of the ASU Faculty of Agribusiness, Technologies & Veterinary Medicine, ASU College, Astrakhan Agrotechnical School and Kamyzyak Agricultural College. Prospective employers, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and of the Veterinary Service of Astrakhan region told the students about in-demand professions and successful agricultural organizations, specificity of work, favourable location of the region for development of the agricultural industry.

After the official part of the event, the students could talk to the employers, discuss employment issues and attend an exhibition of scientific achievements. Besides, the guests were handed information leaflets with the list of current vacancies and tips for passing an interview.

The meeting also saw the awarding of students of the ASU Faculty of Agribusiness, Technologies & Veterinary Medicine, who won the second case-championship of Astrakhan region in the category “Agriculture, Agronomy & Veterinary”, with letters of appreciation.
