Astrakhan State University Extends Cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan

During his visit to Baku, timed to the conference “Digital Economy: Modern Challenges and Real Opportunities”, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov held a number of business meetings.

On February 13, Konstantin Markelov met with Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Azerbaijan, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan Valentin Denisov and Deputy Head of the Representative Office Aleksandr Kalamin. The parties considered the issues of ASU presentation in Azerbaijan as the largest educational and scientific centre of Southern Russia. At the meeting, the ASU Rector also met Chair of the Association of Russian-Speaking Educational Institutions Lyubov Yakunina.

Yesterday, Konstantin Markelov and ASU Professor Oksana Mineva also held a business meeting with First Vice President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Ibragim Guliev and ANAS Vice President Ali Abbasov. Konstantin Markelov and Ibragim Guliev discussed the issues of signing of an agreement between Astrakhan State University and the Academy, which is to formalize the established scientific ties on joint activities concerning Caspian issues. The parties also mentioned a possibility of publication of an encyclopedia on the Caspian region and formation of a team of authors for this project. Besides, the colleagues discussed cooperation within activities of the Caspian SEC. Ibragim Guliev supported the project and expressed the readiness of the Academy to join it.
