ASU Professor Is Co-Author of Influential Scientific Journal

IGI Global (Ottawa, Canada) has published an encyclopedia „Criminal Activity in Deep Web“. One of the sections of the edition, dedicated to analysis of notorious death groups, was prepared by Dean of the Faculty of Social Communications of Astrakhan State University Lyudmila Baeva.

The chapter dwells on communities, livened up in 2015 on the Net, that urge teenagers on committing suicide. The edition presents the description of existential problems that emerge among young people under conditions of e-culture, analyzes mechanisms of a shift of the values of reality and game, life and death. Finally, the author identifies the main risks that lead to teenager escapism, suicidal thoughts and behaviors. It shows how the mechanism of manipulating the youth’s consciousness is being used, based on game scenarios, to guide them to debilitating and self-destructive activities.

Lyudmila Baeva has been cooperating with IGI Global Publisher, specializing on the issues of information society in its different aspects, for many years. In particular, she took part in preparation of articles for the 3rd and 4th editions of the Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology, as well as in a series of multi-authored monographs.
