ASU Students Can Do a Free Online Course in Chinese

An initiative to organize distant classes belongs to graduate of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Ekaterina Repnina. The administration of Astrakhan State University supported the idea, and now Ekaterina is to record video classes together with university staff members.

Ekaterina Repnina did a study course in the major „Translation & Translation Studies“ at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. She visited China in 2010 for the first time within a traineeship course. Having graduated from the university with a diploma with honours in 2012, she made for a traineeship for teachers of Chinese as a foreign language at Hainan Normal University, and in 2014 she did another training course at Changchun State University.

The graduate has already prepared several online classes on learning Chinese for tourists, colloquial Chinese and calligraphy. Ekaterina came up with the idea to record a course for ASU students because of a switch of Russian universities to distance learning and the announcement of quarantine. As she says, unscheduled holidays are a chance to engage in self-education.

The classes are meant for people who start learning the language from the very beginning. However, as the teacher says, they’ll also be interesting and useful for those who have been learning Chinese for a year or two.

The video lessons will be recorded quite soon and will be available on the ASU website for everyone interested.
