ASU StudentsNow Study in France Online
Astrakhan State University has always been active in taking part in academic mobility programmes. However, with the COVID-19 spread, foreign universities were put in quarantine and transferred their educational process into a distance-learning format. On April 17, students and staff members of ASU held an online meeting with representatives of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.
While studying at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis inFrance, the students of Astrakhan State University initiated a research project and now they keep working on it under remoted supervision. They have an opportunity to present the results of their current progressonline.
The project is dedicated to detection and classification of objects on agricultural fields with the use of artificial neural networks. The students presented the relevance of the task at hand both for Russia and France and for other countries, technical peculiarities of the project, they gave reasons for choosing machine learning algorithms and the process of neural network training, and shared their plans for future work.
The conference was also attended by representatives of the International Cooperation Unit on Implementation of International Projects — Head of the unit Olga Sergeeva and specialist Marina Trunilina.
Upon the meeting results, a decision was made to continue the practice of distance cooperation and to resume the work in the traditional format when they get such a chance.
Such format of international cooperation as regular online meetings, conferences, classes and lectures with representatives of ASU partner universities is becoming especially relevant in the period of self-isolation.
