Konstantin Markelov Presents Report at UNESCO Chairs Videoconference
June 5 saw an online round-table “Cooperation of UNESCO Chairs for Strategic Planning and Sustainable Development”. The meeting involved representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, State Duma of Russia, HEIs and scientific and educational institutions of more than 40 cities, including Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Yakutsk and Vilnius.
Participants of the meeting discussed some issues of cooperation between science and education to develop a metropolis as a basis for scientific and technological development, education digitalization, sustainable development of advanced technologies and their implementation, UNESCO Chairs networking and strategic planning. Besides, experts presented the results of activities of the UNESCO Chairs in the sphere of sustainable development.
The rector of Astrakhan State University told his colleagues about the interaction of ASU UNESCO Chair with the population for the sustainable development. Konstantin Markelov stressed that the university’s activity in this sphere correlates with the focus areas of the ASU UNESCO Chair “The Learning Society and Human Sustainable Development”.
Konstantin Markelov presented the main projects of the university within the framework of the Chair, aimed at raising the level of education of regional citizens of all age groups. In his report, Konstantin Markelov paid particular attention to online educational as a tool for sustainable development of the international educational environment, in particular under the conditions of the pandemic and self-isolation. The rector also invited all the round-table participants to take part in the meeting of the Coordinating Committee of UNESCO Chairs in Russia, which is planned to be held this autumn in Astrakhan.
