Electronic proceedings “Current Issues of Modern Journalism and Media Communications” was prepared upon results of the 3rd all-Russia scientific and applied conference that took place in April 2020 at the Department of Theory & History of Journalism of Astrakhan State University.

The conference was timed to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In their papers, BA and MA students, as well as senior schoolchildren who are participants of the ASU School of Journalism, consider the issues of media coverage of war events, issues of the “memory of generations” and images of war heroes; they analyze modern media projects on war and cover the issue and prospects of development of offline and online mass media.

The students touched upon the issue of diversity of forms to present the topics of the Great Patriotic Wart in mass media. They considered some tendencies of creating new formats for representation of the chosen topic, noting that the issue of war is transforming and taking a new shape in the modern media space.

Many reports of the students dwell on some issues of the online media space, modern media criticism and media security, specificity of the language and style of mass media. They also touched upon such global challenges of the present times as the pandemic and infodemic — the rapid spread of fake news and disinformation about COVID-19.
