Astrakhan State University Improves Financial Literacy of Rural Population
Centre “Teacher of the Future” has held an introductory online lecture for 50 rural teachers of Astrakhan region within the framework of the project of the ASU Faculty of Pedagogics & Social Work “Raising the Level of Population’s Financial Literacy and Developing Financial Education in Russian Federation” that won the grant of the RF Ministry of Finances.
The lecture was held by Frist Vice Rector of the Institute of Additional Professional Education “International Financial Centre” Victoria Pavlovskaya, who outlined the project goals and objectives, one of which is implementation of courses on improving financial literacy of rural teachers.
Participants-to-be were presented the programme, covering the following topics:
- Money, family budget and financial planning;
- Banks and banking services;
- Types of fraud, misselling;
- Specificity of financial relations in rural areas, etc.
Upon successful completion of the advanced training programme, the rural teacher will be able to master the fundamentals of financial literacy, including special knowledge in agricultural financial literacy, to give classes on financial literacy to comprehensive school pupils and to organize awareness activities with different target groups of the rural population.
