Oil Production Leader Is Interested in a Promising Project of ASU Scientists

Astrakhan State University held a presentation of new development “Unmanned Aeronautical Platform “Legend” for representatives of OJSC “LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft”. Robotic engineering students demonstrated the capabilities of the new complex and showed its advantages over the existing analogues.

It’s worth mentioning that the aircraft has been created under the technical specification of the customer — OJSC “LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft”. That’s why among the main tasks of the UAV, created for company specific facilities, are monitoring oil spills in the Caspian Sea basin, ejection-type launch and water landing. The team of Astrakhan State University scientists started executing the task set by the LUKOIL management in October 2019.

3D-mapping of terrain and altitudes, photographic plans, spectral analysis and aerial reconnaissance, video shooting of key facilities — these and other features of a new invention were disclosed during the presentation by the developers, ASU Master’s degree students Dmitry Reztsov, the founder of the project, and Pavel Tamakov, the technical executive of the project.

It’s worth mentioning that if a new task appears or there is a necessity to re-equip the complex, the robot engineers will be able to reconstruct the production easily. Thus, a new model with the same characteristics but an easier manufacturing process will be designed.

Note that the testing of the unmanned aeronautical platform “Legend” that took place above the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia, were successful and all identified shortcomings were eliminated.

Now, since all necessary documentation has been prepared, ASU and OJSC “LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft” have made a decision to conduct new tests that will take place at the site of the company in the Kalmyk steppes.
