Astrakhan State University Published Regional Tourism Study Guide

Book “Voyageons ? travers la r?gion d'Astrakhan = Travelling Across Astrakhan Region”, written by Head of the Department of Romanic Philology Elena Kuznetsova, is meant for future tourism and hospitality specialists and everyone who wants to work as guides for foreign travelers.

The new book is logical extension of study guide “Walking through Astrakhan” and is dedicated to learning the material on cultural and historical sights of our city and the vocabulary that describes the regional flora and fauna.

The book consists of region-specific materials in French and Russian. A wide use of visual methods allows the students not only to broaden their linguistic knowledge and enrich the vocabulary but also to learn information on ichthyology and biology. The author presents a rich cross-cultural material on the dialogue between Russian and French cultures and about the local cuisine.

The texts are illustrated and are accompanied by lexical exercises and self-control tasks, topic-specific vocabulary and creative tasks for conducting excursions. After each text in French, there’s a Russian text for consecutive interpretation into French.
