“Strong Ideas for New Times”: ASU Presents Digital Technologies for Sustainable Economic Development
Project of Astrakhan State University’s scientists “Information System of Identification and Assessment of Problem Areas in Agricultural Fields” is one of 27 promising developments, presented by the university for participation in the all-Russia forum. The event is held by the Agency of Strategic Initiatives and Roscongress Foundation and will take place on September 27-28 in Sochi.
Using an unmanned aerial vehicle and AI methods, the information system of ASU receives images from agricultural images, uses them as a data source and creates a field map from the available images.
First, the system detects a problematic area, depending on the crops under examination, and then classifies it in one or several categories. Then the area of the problematic region is calculated and costs for problem elimination are estimated. Data are sent to the farmer and can be used in the format, applied by the robotic agricultural equipment. Information is stored in the database for future use.
The project may be interesting for farms and crop farming agroholdings.
