Students of Astrakhan State University Have an International Friendship

ASU is a multinational university, uniting representatives of various countries and cultures. Today, the university trains about 2,000 foreign citizens. Apart from their studies, they have time for active social activities, participation in national events, university competitions, etc.

International Students of ASU note that they feel comfortable among people who also have come from other countries and live far from home, as ASU trains students from lots of countries, from African states to China. Here one can always find a person of his/her own nationality, which helps adapt a lot, and get to know a large number of various cultures without leaving the country.

Non-native speakers of Russian, studying at ASU, celebrated New Year together. The celebration was a vivid and memorable event for them. The Event Hall of the university brought together students from countries of Africa, Middle East, Latin America, from China and ex-Soviet republics. On the threshold of the International Women’s Day, female students of ASU from different countries competed for the title of the most talented, artistic and beautiful student, taking part in Miss International competition — Ladies from Azerbaijan, Gabon, Italy, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Central African Republic appeared on the stage.

In order to help first-year international students in their social adaptation and integration, Astrakhan State University runs the Peoples’ Friendship Club for participants of the preparatory programme. Besides, students get together to discuss current issues of the stay in the Russian Federation from time to time.
