Astrakhan State University Sews Branded Facemasks for Students
The project on making individual protection means for those who’ll come back to university studies in September, is being implemented by the School of Sewing Craft of the ASU Faculty of Pedagogics & Social Work. Rector of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov was one of the first to have a look at the process of facemask sewing.
Coarse calico, a natural cloth that meets the GOST standards, is used for sewing facemasks. Tailors put ASU symbols on all of them. As they say, more than 7,000 facemasks are going to be made by the beginning of this autumn.
The ASU Faculty of Pedagogics & Social Work has been running the School of Sewing Craft for a few years. A new task was set for the unit because of the new measures for COVID prevention for educational institutions in the upcoming academic year. Students of Astrakhan State University are being involved in the project — 24 additional working places have been created in the workshop for their employment. The school will also get necessary modern equipment.
Branded facemasks will be handed out among the students starting from September, 1. Besides, the students will have a chance to look at facemask production and to try sewing them themselves on Knowledge Day.
