Issues of Youth Extremism Prevention Are Discussed at ASU
A consultancy event for international students of the university — citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia — was held by First Deputy Chief of the Internal Policy Department of the Astrakhan Governor Administration Sergey Voronov and Vice Rector for Extracurricular & Social Activities Farida Rekesheva.
Sergey Voronov stressed that such meetings are held in the region on a regular basis and are meant for combating extremist ideologies and preventing terrorism among the youth, as well as averting provocations.
The students learnt which structures and organizations they could address if some troubles occur in communication with group mates and other people living in the region. They were also recommended to check Internet resources they visit, since the modern information environment is characterized by the leaving of a considerable part of society for the virtual space (social media, messengers), a growing number of fake news and lawlessness because of anonymity.
In her turn, Farida Rekesheva noted that students of Astrakhan State University traditionally build friendly relations, and the university keeps a homely atmosphere, favoured by various projects and programmes, aimed at teamwork and socialization of the students. Besides, ASU successfully runs a regional branch office of the Association of International Students which helps foreign citizens get used to new conditions.
