Astrakhan Schoolchildren Assemble Robots together with ASU Scientists
A master class for children of the 5-8th grades from the Secondary Comprehensive School No.32 was held by experts of the Center for Development of Modern Competences in Children “House of Scientific Collaboration named after V.K. Trediakovsky” and the Center of Viable Technologies in Electronics & Robotics of Astrakhan State University.
Such career-guidance activities are held by ASU representatives on a regular basis. There teenagers can learn about the university’s facilities and modern promising majors and find new talents in themselves. Director of the House of Scientific Collaboration named after V.K. Trediakovsky Daniil Matveev told the schoolchildren and teachers about the center’s activities and invited everyone interested to join classes at ASU, including in robotic engineering, industrial design and aerodynamics.
The scientists of Astrakhan State University showed the children a few innovative robots that are created at our university. The teenagers looked at how a mobile platform, performing automated milling of coarse materials, and a computer-vision system for detection of serially-produced article defects work. Besides, the schoolchildren were shown 3D printers, augmented reality glasses and unmanned aerial vehicles. Having shown the developments, the ASU scientist gave a class on LEGO construction, where the children could assemble their first robots.
