Konstantin Markelov Speaks about Development and Security of Greater Caspian Region in Moscow

The ASU rector took part in expert meeting “Caspian Region Security: Challenges and Prospects”. Other staff members of Astrakhan State University also joined the conference online. The colleagues discussed a new world economic system, issues of ensuring stability in the Caspian region and overcoming perceived difficulties for Russia in the context of the Caspian geostrategic location.

Konstantin Markelov presented his report “Greater Caspian Region in New World Economic System under Societal Security Conditions”, stressing that the Caspian region is an axial region of Eurasia and a historically multicultural space which, along with political and religious diversity, is described with the diversity of approaches to its history, culture and religion.

Konstantin Markelov told the audience about ASU scientists’ research on the new geopolitical and geoeconomic phenomenon. He presented results of their work with regard to the integrated issues of societal security — a crucial factor for sustainable regional socioeconomic development of the Greater Caspian region.

The ASU rector’s report generated greater interest among the experts and went along with extensive discussion.
