Indian Embassy Diplomats Will Learn Russian at ASU
Astrakhan State University welcomed a delegation of the Embassy of India in Russia, headed by Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic Binaya Srikanta Pradhan. The delegation visited the university to discuss the implementation of joint projects and plans on strengthening bilateral cooperation in science, education and culture.
The distinguished guests were shown the gym and swimming pool of ASU, laboratories of the Institute of Physics & Mathematics and training facilities of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation. The Embassy representatives were impressed to see how diverse the university’s activities are.
The Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary invited ASU to take part in the Days of the Indian Culture in Astrakhan which planned for the summer of 2021.
At the working meeting, Rector Konstantin Markelov told the guests about ASU projects in robotic engineering, agriculture, oil and gas industry, ecology, renewable energy and history. The rector stressed that Astrakhan State University is interested in exchanging experience with Indian HEIs, creating joint developments and projects in these spheres.
In his turn, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan said that resolving the issue of establishing a department of Hindi at ASU was at the final stage — the unit is going to open as early as next semester. Besides, the meeting participants discussed a launch of the Russian language course for the Embassy diplomats.
