All That Jazz: ASU Cultural Centre Celebrates Retro Night on St. Valentine’s Day

The gala concert for everyone who loves the most popular music genre of the 20th century was attended by Rector of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov.

Students, heads of artistic studios of the university and invited performers of Astrakhan appeared on the stage, showing inimitable rhythms and styles. They performed some US and European jazz hits from operas, musicals and films like Summertime, Moon River, and City of Stars. The celebration could not do without Strangers in the Night, a world-famous song by Frank Sinatra. The programme also included some Russian songs.

VIVACE studio performers danced two-step, quickstep and cross-step.

In between the items, the guests could answer questions of the jazz quiz and ask a partner for a slow dance.
