Astrakhan State University Held Intellectual English Language Contest

On February 15, the ASU Department of Continuing Education held the 4th interregional competition “Youth of the UK”, involving 146 entrants from different cities of Russia.

The online tournament was organized within the framework of the scientific and educational project “Open Education at ASU” of the Department of Continuing Education.

The competition aims at sparkling interest and motivation for learning English in the students, upgrading their knowledge in the linguistic and cultural studies, helping them get new computer skills, favouring the professional advancement of English teachers and improving extracurricular activities.

Tasks of the intellectual contest allowed the participants to merge into the history of the target-language country, get new knowledge and check the one they already have about life spheres, hobbies, interests, preferences of the UK youth, and, above all, test their own will to victory and strength of the competitive spirit.

Along with Astrakhan, the project involves participants from Belgorod, Volgograd, Volzhsky, Ekaterinburg, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Stavropol, Tomsk, Ulyanovsk, Elista and Yakutsk.
