Astrakhan State University Organized Celebration of 76th Anniversary of Victory for Veterans

ASU staff members and students organized a concert programme, timed to the memorable occasion, which included war songs, sounding within the walls of the university, the Waltz of Victory and interactive platforms.

Rector of ASU Konstantin Markelov addressed the veterans with congratulating words:

“Now Astrakhan State University is the leading educational center not only in Astrakhan, but also in the whole Caspian region, which is largely thanks to you. In those difficult years, a huge responsibility of reviving the institute, creating a new pedagogical school, growing and becoming one of the best higher educational institutions in the region fell on your shoulders. It is impossible to build the future without the past — we remember this and will never forget your contribution.”

The ASU chief added that despite the fact that there were no participants of the Great Patriotic War among the audience, the colleagues and students appreciate and warmly remember their selfless post-war labour. Besides, Konstantin Markelov especially thanked the ASU Historical Faculty, that managed to quickly prepare archival materials for conferring the RF honorary title «City of Labour Valour» to Astrakhan.

Both professors and representatives of the administration of Astrakhan State University were among the veterans.

As Prof. David Teply says, the moment when the Great Victory of the Soviet people was announced will never be erased from his memory, outshining the memories of hunger, cold and all the difficulties of those times.
