ASU Is Going to Expand Ties with Korean Universities

Within the framework of the 2021 K-Fest festival of Korean culture, Astrakhan State University has welcomed a delegation from the cultural center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. The meeting participants discussed the most relevant meeting points of the two cultures and outlined new horizons for cooperation.

Konstantin Markelov spoke about joint projects of Astrakhan State University with Korean universities and about the main activities of the unique center of the Korean language and culture at ASU. He stressed that student and teaching mobility, joint research projects that could interest students and young scientists are being developed on the basis of the centre. Konstantin Markelov also told the guests about various social projects and the development of pedagogical areas.

Irina Bocharnikova stressed the need for the embassy’s support for Astrakhan State University, since Korean universities that do not know about Astrakhan are wary of cooperation with a provincial university. Minister Plenipotentiary, Counselor, Director of the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Russian Federation Wee Myung Jae confirmed that any ties begin with getting acquainted with the city and the university, and assured the administration of Astrakhan State University that there would be a recommendation on behalf of the embassy.

Besides, the issue of launching a children’s course on the Korean speech at the ASU Center of the Korean Language and Culture was considered within the framework of the meeting.
