Konstantin Markelov: It Is Necessary to Improve the Rules of 2022 Admission Campaign

A meeting of the Council of Rectors of Southern Russia, which also involved university rectors from the North Caucasus Federal District, was held within the framework of the Open Data 2021 forum; the colleagues discussed a number of important work issues and current tasks.

The meeting participants discussed measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, the 2022/2023 admission campaign, activities of student scientific associations, the role of higher educational institutions in the implementation of inclusive policies in the regions and interaction of the National Association of Endowments with the university community.

The heads of Southern Russia’s universities also reviewed cases of best practices and issues of network partnerships.

The ASU rector was one of the speakers of the event; he made a presentation on topical issues of the 2022/2023 admission campaign. Konstantin Markelov told his colleagues about the most in-demand areas of training, outlined the problem of the lowest passing scores set by universities independently, pointed out a number of shortcomings that arose this year, and made proposals for their elimination in the future.

Having listened to the report by Konstantin Markelov, his colleagues agreed that in order to improve the admission campaign in 2022, it is necessary to develop a mechanism for integrating admission services to establish uniform technical standards that allow to evenly distribute the workload for processing applications and improve the quality of consultations for applicants.
