ASU Journalism Students Receive Professional Awards

Students of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University were awarded winner’ certificates of a creative competition on Mass Media Workers Day of Astrakhan Region in the residence of the Astrakhan governor.

210 years ago, on February 10, the first issue of the Oriental News newspaper came out in Astrakhan; that was one of the first provincial newspapers in Russia, which marked the beginning of the history of Astrakhan journalism. Every year, regional mass media representatives celebrate their professional holiday on the second Friday of February, and Astrakhan Governor Igor Babushkin congratulated the best of them on this day.

A contest among Astrakhan journalists was held on the threshold of the holiday. Astrakhan journalists, TV- and radio broadcasting journalists, online media staff and photographers took part in it. More than 100 works were sent by 53 authors for 11 nominations.

ASU journalism freshers and their supervisor, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of Journalism Ekaterina Lazutkina also attended the professional holiday in the hall of the governor's residence. They got acquainted with the traditions of the profession and its best representatives.
