On May 12, 2014, the Institute of Continuing Education of ASU launched its course “Stylistics of Written Business Speech & Civil Servants’ Speech Culture” as the initial part of a whole cycle of educational programs for staff of state and municipal authorities of Astrakhan Region.

34 trainees are now covering this program; they represent a number of Astrakhan Region’s ministries: the Ministry of Education & Science, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Sports & Tourism, the Ministry of Economic Development, etc. The course is being delivered by the Institute of Continuing Education of ASU in accordance with state contracts signed by ASU and by the Administration of the Governor of Astrakhan Region represented by its Chief Mr. Kanat Shantemirov.

The course is delivered by Professor Irina Priorova, who emphasizes the importance of practical skills of business writing and the necessity of learning the written forms of communication to hold business talks.

All in all, over 150 people are to be taught in accordance with the signed contracts. As usual, programs for civil servants will be variable; an individual approach towards each student will meet the needs of even the most demanding trainees.
