Contest of Young IT Specialists

Astrakhan State University has held the contest “Me in the IT World” for students of high schools and universities. The young specialists have been competing in their IT creativity, in their projects, and in their programming skills.

The contest “Me in the IT World” has been arranged by ASU’s Department of Mathematics & Information Technologies and by ASU’s Department of Preliminary Education as a part of the program to develop our students’ communities. Students of our Department of Math & IT have played an active role in its arrangement. This event always attracts a lot of participants; the agenda of the current contest has included three sections.

As for the first section, the youngest participants have demonstrated their presentations and animation plots in IT themes. It was a student of Gymnasium #3 who won the section contest with their project “Development of Calculator Application for Android System”; students of Lyceum #1 and the School of Gifted Children have taken prizes.

 

The second section was a programming contest. It was necessary to tackle a number of problems within a limited time by applying various programming languages. The contest has been won by a student of High School #2. Prizes have also been won by students of Lyceum #1 and Gymnasium #3.

The participants of the 3rd section have applied the teamwork method; they have developed and presented their ideas of innovative projects in the field of IT. The section agenda has also included a master class given by Mikhail Erman, Director of the Business Incubator of the Astrakhan IT Park, whose theme was “How to Find an Idea & Make It Feasible”, as well as a presentation of new Microsoft software products. The section contest has been won by the EcoRussia project presented by the School of Gifted Children; the second place has been gained by a team of ASU students, while the third place has been granted to Gymnasium #3.
