ASU's Department of Philology & Journalism: 1st Place at Regional Contest of Agitation Teams

The students’ agitation team of our Department of Philology & Journalism “Mayak” (“Lighthouse”) has taken the first place at the regional contest “Our Choice Is Our Life”.

In early June 2014, the final tour of the regional festival of agitation teams “Our Choice Is Our Life” was held. Astrakhan State University has been represented by a team of the Department of Philology & Journalism (Darya Nefedova, Vlad Yakovlev, Georgy Martsinkevich, Andrey Sukharev, Marianna Davtyan, Alexey Paripa, Olga Shpak, Ilgar Melikov, Kseniya Chervonenko, and Darya Tkacheva).

Of twenty participating teams, only eight of them have been allowed to take part in the final competition, including the leader of the selection stage - the Mayak team. It was crucial for our students to keep their leading position. An original and a bright performance prepared by the united team of our Department of Philology & Journalism has highly been assessed by the competent jury chaired by Mr. Korovin, Chairman of Astrakhan Region’s Election Commission. The whole audience has paid attention to emotional backing arranged by our folks’ supporters, who were really glad to see their peers’ success.

As a result of the contest, the Mayak agitation team has been granted a diploma and the main prize of the Festival - a TV set. Our students have demonstrated their active life position and a high level of creativity, without which no journalist or philologist could get along.
