New People of University

On September 01, the traditional ceremony of initiating newly-admitted people into students has been held at Astrakhan State University.

A new academic year has started at our University. Some of our students will continue their studies; others are about to complete them before starting a professional career; as for our first-year students, it means their joining the large friendly community of our University. Following the tradition, all the newly-admitted people have officially been initiated into students of Astrakhan State University. In his greeting speech, Prof. Alexander Lunyov, Rector of ASU, has wished the new students to achieve progress in their studies, sports, and creative activities; he has remarked that ASU does everything to help our students make their dreams come true. He granted students a symbolic key of knowledge; the newly-initiated students have sworn an oath in their loyalty to the students’ community. The international students’ anthem “Gaudeamus” has been performed after that.

The large concert program has helped our new students realize what an eventful life awaits them at the University. Laureates of students’ projects (“Big Dances at ASU”, “Battle of Choirs”, “Podium”, and the Theater Festival) gave their concert numbers at the scene. The concert presenters Maria Abdulina and Kirill Abakumov have contributed much to the holiday atmosphere. A large storm of applause has become a worthy award for all the performers. Our new students gave their own numbers, too. They showed their talents in dancing and singing, as well as in the model art. Every performer got a present that will be useful in their studies.

Let us hope that positive emotions gained at the holiday will be enough for the whole academic year. Time of amazing discoveries and making new friends has come for new students of Astrakhan State University.
