Russian Language Club of Foreign Students Association Opens at ASU

The Language Club of the Astrakhan Branch of the Foreign Students Association has been opened at Astrakhan State University.

Citizens of over 20 countries study at Astrakhan State University. All of them speak Russian at this or that level of proficiency. Most of them study at our Department of Preliminary Education of Foreign Citizens, but some of them enter other Departments at once. Yet, our foreign guests face some hurdles. It may be uneasy for them to understand their professors perfectly, to give an efficient response, or to get in touch with their peers. The Foreign Students Association has come up with a solution to this issue: it has opened the Language Club, where anyone can improve his or her Russian.

Four groups study at the Center now. Their classes take place twice a week; they are based on a flexible schedule that does not affect the main educational process. As a rule, the classes include the theoretical part (reading texts, learning poems, writing essays, etc.) and the game one (interactive communication).

Classes are taught in Russian, but the Club supervisors are planning to launch teaching in English and in French, as that will help foreign students get to know each other. At the end of their studies, all the trainees of the Language Club shall obtain official certificates.
