French Language Festival “Gestures-2016” at ASU

The Regional Festival in French “Gestures-2016” has taken place at Astrakhan State University.

The goal of this annual event is to promote the French language and culture, to present France’s modern and folk arts, and to stimulate young people’s creative potential.

Students of Astrakhan Region’s top high schools (including the Astrakhan Linguistic Gymnasium) and universities (including Astrakhan State University) have taken part in the Festival. Dr. Elena Donchenko, Head of Astrakhan State University’s Chair of Romanic Philology, has opened the event. Its program included many concert numbers and consisted of two stages: the first stage represented numbers by high school students and the second one – by university students. People of Astrakhan State Medical University have participated in the event for the first time. The audience has highly appreciated their natural behavior on the scene, energy, and sincerity. All the participants demonstrated a good French pronunciation and bright scene images. Each team got a diploma and gifts.

The event organizers, Dr. Yulia Chudinova and Dr. Elena Sernova from ASU’s Chair of Romanic Philology, would like to thank all those who arranged this event: staff of the Cultural Center of ASU, faculty staff of ASU’s Chair of Romanic Philology, and Astrakhan Region’s high school teachers. We look forward to seeing each other again at the Festival “Gestures-2017”.
