Deceive Me, if You Can!

The Day of Lie, Deception, & Unmasking has taken place at the Department of Psychology of Astrakhan State University.

The student club “Insight” has arranged this event. The popular book by Paul Ekman dedicated to psychology of lie, as well as the well-known TV series, has been the base for our faculty’s and students’ idea to tell in an entertaining form how to react to lie that penetrates all the spheres of our life, how to recognize lie, and how to get protection from it.

The agenda has been very eventful and entertaining. Reps of the Insight Club have delivered a training seminar for our students, who could learn what specific features of human attention play in favor of swindlers and how not to become their victim by learning the necessary skills to recognize lie. For example, the event organizers have simulated kidnapping of an instructor of the seminar. Fortunately, that was just a joke, but it was rather stressful. This nonstandard situation encouraged the event participants to discuss mysteries of human attention and perception.

The event was continued at the Psychological Service of ASU, where students could take part in the popular Mafia game.

As the event participants confess, they got real pleasure and a lot of positive emotions from the Day of Lie; they thanked the event organizers and wished the Day of Lie, Deception, & Unmasking were held on a regular basis.
