International Forum for Development of Students’ Exchange Programs in Sports Just Opened

On May 12, 2016, the International Forum for Development of Students’ Exchange Programs in Sports was opened at Astrakhan State University.

This event was arranged by the Ministry of Education & Science of the Russian Federation jointly with the Russian Students Sport Union. Besides Russian participants, delegations from four other Caspian littoral countries – Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenia – have come to Astrakhan. The Forum agenda includes sporting, cultural, and entertaining activities to back healthy lifestyle and promote sports and physical training.

Professor Alexander Lunyov, Rector of ASU, warmly greeted all the participants and guests of the Forum; he pointed out that ASU pays much attention to promoting sports among its students; availability of sports facilities for young people is of top priority for the University Administration.

In their speeches, Mr. Alexander Klykanov (Chairperson of Astrakhan Region’s Parliament) and Mr. Konstantin Markelov (Astrakhan Region’s Prime Minister) remarked that such events are a base to promote students’ sports activities in Caspian littoral countries and develop good relations between them.

Our distinguished guests – Mr. Ali Mohammadi (Consul of Iran in Astrakhan), Mr. Askhat Syzdykov (Consul of Kazakhstan in Astrakhan), Ms. Dina Sokolova (Deputy General Manager of the Russian Public Organization “International Youth Center”), and Mr. Roman Olkhovskiy (Vice President of the Russian Students Sport Union) – also gave their welcoming speeches.

After all the welcoming speeches, students of ASU presented smart dancing numbers on the scene.

The Forum agenda includes contests in futsal, streetball, table tennis, and chess; educational sites aiming to present customs and traditions of the multinational and multicultural Caspian littoral region are its integral part. Besides, all the participants shall see sights of Astrakhan, attend master classes in decorative applied art, lithography, and painting at the Center of Creative Industries of ASU; they shall also take part in a paintball contest, as well as in rope walking.
