International Student Sports Forum: Summing Up
On May 13, 2016, the official closing ceremony of the International Forum for Development of Students’ Exchange Programs in Sports took place at Astrakhan State University.
ASU has become the first Russian university to host such an event. Teams of the University of Guilan (Iran), Baku State University (Azerbaijan), Khalel Dosmukhamedov Atyrau State University (Kazakhstan), a combined team of Turkmenia’s universities, and a team of Astrakhan State University took part in it.
Mr. Roman Olkhovskiy (Vice President of the Russian Students Sport Union) gave his speech at the closing ceremony. He pointed out that the main idea of international exchange programs in the field of sports – to develop friendly relations between universities – really came to fruition at this Forum.
The Organizing Committee summed up the event. The Iranian team became the champion in table tennis, while the Russian team won the chess competition. As for futsal, the 1st place was won by Turkmenistan, the 2nd place – by Russia, and the 3rd place – by Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstani team won the streetball contest for men, while the Russian team got the 2nd place and the Azerbaijani one got the 3rd place. As for girls’ teams, Iranians won the streetball competition, and the Russian team got the 2nd place.
The awards ceremony was followed by a concert arranged by students of ASU. After the closing ceremony, the Forum participants enjoyed a river voyage up and down the Volga by motor vessel.
