Students of ASU at Tavrida Forum

In late July 2016, three students of Astrakhan State University took part in the Tavrida Youth Educational Forum held in Crimea.

The event agenda aimed to search for the best techniques to teach history at secondary schools and at universities, as well as to promote this science in public.

The distinguished guests were Mr. Guy Mettan (the well-known Swiss journalist and politician), Archimandrite Tikhon (Shevkunov) (supervisor of the project “Historical Park “Russian Is My History”, a member of the Presidential Council for Culture & Arts), Ms. Elena Chavchavadze (Vice President of the Russian Culture Fund, a film director and scriptwriter), etc.

Astrakhan Region was represented by three people: Lyubov Kholova (she covers a master program at the Department of Social Communications of ASU), Ramazan Abdurakhmanov (he covers a master program at our Department of Business & Economy), and Gulbina Bayzulina (she covers a bachelor program at our Historical Department). The event participants made up 15-people teams that united reps of Russia’s regions and delegates from other countries to listen to a course of lectures, take part in master classes, and play a historical game arranged by the Museum of Contemporary Russian History. As for extracurricular activities, Ramazan’s team won the 3rd place in volleyball.

As for Lyubov, who studies culture of mass communications at our University, she shared her impressions with us: “The Tavrida Forum was a smart chance to get high-quality, relevant, and practice-oriented knowledge from top experts – not just as an educational program, but also by changing experience with other participants – professors and students. This event opened new horizons for me in understanding Culture Studies, as this field of knowledge is similar to History. It also contributed to my professional development as a teacher”.
