Power Unit Installed at ASU
A power unit has been installed at Building #9 of Astrakhan State University. Its installation was funded by the University Endowment Fund.
The main elements of the unit are its 600-watt wind generator with 24-V nominal voltage and four 250-watt solar panels. The unit works 24 hours a day. The power, which is generated by the wind generator and by the four panels with special MPPT charge controllers, accumulates in the battery pack manufactured by applying the GEL technology. The capacity of the pack is 200 ampere hours; its nominal voltage is 24 V. A 1,600-watt power inverter converts 24 V of DC into 220 V of AC. The power accumulated in the batteries is applied for street lighting, which is switched on automatically in the evening.
The unit is already used for research and educational purposes.
