Holiday in Farsi at ASU

The Chair of Asian Languages of Astrakhan State University has arranged the Day of Persian Poetry dedicated to Nowruz, an ancient holiday in honor of coming spring and the Persian New Year.

Students of our Department of Foreign Languages have prepared an interesting program that included recitation of poems by Iranian poets of various epochs, as well as reports about life and artistic works by well-known Iranian authors of the 20th century.

Mr. Ali Mohammadi, Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran to Astrakhan, who visited this event together with his staff, perceived this program with great interest. The Iranian diplomats thanked our students for such a good opportunity to feel the poetic atmosphere of their native language. Mr. Mohammadi and Mr. Alexander Mukhin (Acting Head of our Chair of Asian Languages) thanked our students, who won the Farsi Language Competition recently held at ASU, and gave them diplomas.
