Students of ASU Learn to Be Parliamentary Journalists

Students of the Department of Philology & Journalism of Astrakhan State University have taken part in an annual joint project by the Parliament of Astrakhan Region and by ASU. The project was initiated five years ago, so our School of Parliamentary Journalism celebrates its first milestone anniversary this year.

During this hands-on training, our students can attend meetings of the Regional Parliament, learn the techniques of legislation activities, and study the principles of interaction between the legislature and mass media. They can talk with deputies, as well as with experts in Law, Political Science, Economics, and Sociology. The future journalists will write articles that may become the initial pages in their professional portfolios. Moreover, upon their completion of this training, they can take part in the annual contest for the best coverage of the regional parliamentary activities. Our students already won it several times in the nomination “Fresh Sight”.

Graduates of the School of Parliamentary Journalism shall obtain certificates that are of real value for employers in both Astrakhan and other regions of our country.
