ASU Robot Will Become the Best Friend for Divers

Today, another tests of submersibles called «MUVIC» and «Gnom Pro» were held in the swimming pool of Astrakhan State University. And in the spring of 2019, they are expected to go on an expedition in the Caspian Sea.

According to Ivan Ermakov, a controller of remotely operated underwater vehicles of AquaSpetsService LLC, the robot was modified several times: some elements and boards were replaced, a general diagnostics was carried out, etc. Then the engineers were to test the vehicle under field-like conditions, i.e. to submerse it in water and check its functioning, assess new functions and determine further improvements.

Nikolay Svishchev, a representative of the Faculty of Physics & Technology who designed MUVIC, dived together with the robots to the bottom, checked the vehicles off-line mode and the joints airtightness. The engineers also checked the vehicles functions, e.g. sustainer, vertical and lateral engines, cameras functioning, lighting and handler. The test was completed successfully.
