An ASU Researcher Acts as an Expert in a Discussion on Partnership of the Five Caspian States

The international round table discussion "Caspian Integration 2018: Results and Scenarios of Regional Partnership" took place on December, 12. The event was organized by the Centre of International and Sociopolitical Research "Caspian — Eurasia".

The participants discussed a number of urgent issues of the Caspian region integration: international experience of regional partnership, obstacles and risks for the Caspian integration, its geopolitical priorities and the role of culture in the development of the Caspian integration processes. One of the main topics of the discussion was the adoption of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.

Viktor Viktorin, Candidate of Historical Sciences and an Associate Processor of the ASU Department of Asian Languages, suggested that the participants not only considered the Caspian region in the context of the "Five Caspian States", but extended the geography of relations involving the Black Sea and the Aral Sea regions. He also advanced an idea on an upcoming demand for multidiscipline experts in the Caspian issues.

It should be recalled that Astrakhan State University has been cooperating with the centre "Caspian — Eurasia" from its establishment in 2016. ASU researchers act as experts and organizers of its events.
