Classics and Energetics: ASU Made New Friends in India

Another two educational institutions have become partners of Astrakhan State University during the ASU delegation’s visit to India. The university signed cooperation agreements with Gujarat University and Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University.

Gujarat University is a classical university which trains multi-discipline experts almost in all study fields. Many Indian public figures have graduated from it, including Narendra Modi, the current Prime Minister of India.

Now one of the main universities of Gujarat trains 350 thousand students. Prof. Himanshu Pandya, Vice Chancellor of the university, told the Astrakhan guests about areas of the organization’s development and expressed their full readiness for cooperation. The parties agreed on joint implementation of the project on establishing a Hindi department at ASU, and our Indian colleagues are eager to participate in academic mobility programmes. According to Konstantin Markelov, the ASU Acting Rector, Gujarat researchers are interested in the Russian language a lot and they are ready to receive teachers and researchers of Astrakhan State University, engaged in different study areas.

Another new academic partner of ASU is Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. Its activities correspond to the national global strategy for developing energy infrastructure and addressing the issues of the Indian energy security. The university actively participates in different international initiatives and mobility programmes. They are interested in ASU projects on robotics, shipbuilding and oil & gas technologies.

ASU has outlined long-term plans with both universities, and there is a great scope of work for the next few years.
