ASU Representatives Participate in a Discussion of the Strategy for Action
This week, Astrakhan has hosted an inter-industry strategic session within the framework of the Strategy for Socioeconomic Development of Astrakhan Region. ASU initiated implementation of the project "Integrated University", created to remove barriers in organization of joint use of property, laboratories and HR by different universities in course of their training of professionals that will be in-demand for the regional economy.
The event was attended, among others, by representatives of Astrakhan State University: Olga Egorova, the Director of the Project Office of International Cooperation & Development, Elena Timofeeva, the Dean of the Historical Faculty, Aleksey Titov, the Head of the Engineering Project Office, and Olga Altman, the Head of the Directorate of Strategic Development & Priority Programmes Realization.
Taking part in a business game, the participating experts, that are members of the Expert Council of the Governor of Astrakhan Region, formed three teams — "Young Professionals — Treasure of the Region", "Caspian Traditions" and "Infrastructure Development" — and discussed a plenty of problems and ways to solve them through inter-industry interaction.
Three projects, aimed at development of the regional human resources — "Rural Specialist of the 21st Century", "New Professionals" and "Integrated University" were presented to participants of the round-table discussion "New Opportunities for Training and Using Human Resources through Inter-Industry Interaction".
According to ASU Historical Faculty Dean Elena Timofeeva, the idea of an integrated university consists in using the resources of regional universities in the common interest. For example, laboratories, libraries and other units can be used for different collective needs.
The project implies further involvement of vocational educational institutions and schools to extend their educational capacities as well. According to the experts, it will take some two years to develop a legal framework and general programmes of the integrated university.
