Kazakhstan Experts Commend ASU Capacities
Astrakhan State University welcomed a delegation from the Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yessenov, located in Aktau, Kazakhstan. Our university was visited by Yessenov University Rector Berik Akhmetov, Vice-Rector for Science and Internationalization Ermek Nurmaganbet and Marine Academy Director Bolat Sarsenbaev.
The guests were shown the university facilities and were really impressed by the areas of university’s activities and its laboratories. They commended activities of ASU researchers, ideas on the Caspian sea monitoring, our logistics laboratory for students and the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation equipment.
At their meeting with ASU Acting Rector Konstantin Markelov, the delegates stressed their interest in ASU technologies and Astrakhan researchers’ developments.
Konstantin Markelov told the guests about the newly established Transport & Logistics Consortium of Caspian Higher Educational Institutions and suggested that the Kazakhstan university joined this association. Berik Akhmedov, in his turn, noted that the issue of developing transport communication and logistics is more urgent than ever for Kazakhstan, especially for Aktau with the trans-Caspian transport route on its territory.
Konstantin Markelov also presented possible double-degree programmes. The Kazakhstan guests noted that educational cooperation with the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation is particularly appealing for them, as there is an urgent need for conference interpreters. The guests are also interested in marine technologies, engineering majors and IT sphere.
The parties put forward a plenty of productive ideas, including organization of a joint conference in Aktau, participation of Yessenov University in major events at ASU and involvement of Kazakhstan experts in the work on the Caspian encyclopedia, which now is being compiled by specialists of Astrakhan State University.
