Astrakhan State University Holds a Historical and Patriotic Forum
The forum participants gathered in the event hall of the ASU main building and discussed the role of historical documents in descendants’ remembrance of the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War.
The further the war events go to the past, the clearer is the greatness of those times for us. Despite an increased interest in this period, the history still has a lot of white spots which give rise to debates among researchers. Here historical documents, kept both in public and in private archives, can help a lot.
The ASU historical and patriotic forum gathered representatives of archives, libraries and museums, regional study experts and students of the Historical Faculty and the Faculty of Law. The programme included 19 reports, each one with a real history of the country, nation, family and even individuals.
A special part of the programme was dedicated to front-line soldiers of different nationalities. Their stories proved that during the war times each nation of the USSR had made an invaluable contribution to the liberation of the country from the aggressors.
Expressing her gratitude to the forum participants for their personal involvement and commitment to the historical truth, ASU Law Faculty Dean Elena Savelieva said she hopes that the event format will be extended in future and will involve students of all the faculties.
