ASU Strengthens Cooperation with Higher School of Economics

Astrakhan State University hosted a meeting of ASU Acting Rector Konstantin Markelov with Olga Afanasieva, the Deputy Dean for Admissions of the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design of the Department of Integrated Communications, National Research University «Higher School of Economics», and Maria Mordvinova, the Deputy Dean of the above department, the chair of the jury of the competition «I am a Professional» in the category «Advertising and PR».

ASU keeps cooperating with the Higher School of Economics: this time the university has also become a platform to prepare the participants of the all-Russia student competition «I am a Professional» in the category «Advertising and PR» under the guidance of HSE representatives.

Olga Afanasieva has already visited our university this February, when ASU was hosting the final (on-site) stage of the student competition. It should be noted that the university joined the ranks of the event organizers and became the Southern Federal District platform in several categories.

At the meeting, Konstantin Markelov told the guests about advantages and relevance of the ASU Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation, the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and the Faculty of Preliminary Education. The guests got interested in ASU capacities and noted that even in Moscow it’s quite difficult to find a good translator, let alone conference interpreters. Specialists of such a high level are in-demand at the labour market, and the HSE representatives proposed to develop cooperation in this area. Thanks to the grant support, the HSE invites ASU teachers to undertake a free traineeship at the Higher School of Economics.

According to the guest, the idea of the programme is that trainees will gain new competences, knowledge and skills, create good academic ties with new partners and further use these advantages for their own professional development and for the benefit of their universities and regions.

The Rector supported the proposals of the HSE representatives and noted that such an experience will be both interesting and useful for teachers of Astrakhan State University.
