ASU Will Cooperate with a Leader of the Russian Engineering Education

Astrakhan State University welcomed Prof. Anton Fojtik from the Czech Technical University in Prague and the National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI) and Prof. Viktor Timoshenko, who also represents MEPhI.

The professors arrived in ASU to hold round-table discussions on the topics of the joint 3rd International Summer School «Physics and Technology in Life Sciences» of the National Research Nuclear University and to discuss some joint projects with their ASU colleagues. On July 15, the parties had a meeting at Astrakhan State University and discussed some possibilities for conducting new research in nanotechnology within the framework of a mega-grant, provided by the RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The guests were welcomed by ASU First Rector for Research Activities Anna Fedotova who thanked the guests for their visit on behalf of ASU Acting Rector Konstantin Markelov.

The colleagues discussed their plans on the implementation of the interdisciplinary project which will involve ASU mathematicians, biologists, physicists, chemists and robotic engineers. Viktor Timoshenko stressed that the efficiency of fulfilment of both parties’ potential requires their focus on development of physical methods for their application in biomedicine and life sciences. The expert also proposed to expand the project with studies on nanoparticle materials science.

The guests were shown the University and its main facilities and units. Anton Fojtik commended a high level of the ASU infrastructure which can compete with the world leading universities. As Prof. Fojtik said, this very combination of the university facilities and the teachers’ commitment will allow to create a high-quality scientific product.
