ASU Is Going to Cooperate with RAS Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography

On August 23, Astrakhan State University welcomed Prof. Vladimir Zorin, Doctor of Political Sciences who heads the Centre for Scientific Cooperation with Social Organizations, Mass Media & Public Authorities of the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The well-known Russian public figure, who is also an ex-minister of the RF Government (2001-2004) came to Astrakhan to participate in the interregional festival of the folk art of the Volga regions “We’ve Been United by Volga for Centuries”.

Vladimir Zorin was shown the educational facilities of Astrakhan State University, in particular the Department of Political Science & International Relations and the Department of Social, Political and Economic Research of Eurasia & Orient.

At the meeting with ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov, the colleagues discussed the topicality of the Caspian studies which has steadily increased in recent years.

Vladimir Zorin commended the ASU projects and activities and said he’s sure that the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography will be interested in participation in joint research in this areas. The meeting participants also discussed possible forms of future cooperation like submission of joint applications for grants or establishment of a joint laboratory at Astrakhan State University.
