PhysMath Alumni Meet at Astrakhan State University
In 1984, the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Astrakhan State Pedagogical Institute graduated about 150 students. Most of them started working at urban and rural schools of Astrakhan region and other rural areas of Russia.
Throughout these 35 years, the graduates of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, which is now called the Faculty of Digital Technologies & Cybersecurity, have been mainly involved into pedagogical activities. Some of them became directors and teaching department heads of schools, staff members of the regional Ministry of Education and Science, teachers of Astrakhan universities, and, of course, it’s especially honourable that Astrakhan State University is now headed by Konstantin Markelov, who is also a graduate of 1984.
The 1984 PhysMath alumni thankfully greeted their teachers who gladly recognized their former students and asked them about their progress and achievements.
Then the Rector invited the 1984 alumni to have a look at the new academic building of Astrakhan State University. The guests were pleasantly surprised by the changes that have occurred at the university over the years after their graduation from the pedagogical institute. Not only the name of their faculty changed — scientific and educational capabilities of the whole university have increased. The graduates note that they couldn’t even dream about laboratories of ideas, design, prototypes and robotic engineering, the scientific and educational centre for studying logistic solutions and other things that have been created at the university, and they’re very happy for current students. As the guests confessed, ASU is the only institution they’ll send their children and grandchildren to study at.
