Astrakhan State University Experts Discuss a Wide Range of Sociological Issues

On November 18, the Reading Hall of the ASU Library hosted a roundtable discussion “Sociological Research and Public Opinion Monitoring in Information Space of Urban Community”, timed to the Day of Sociologist.

The participants discussed issues of sociologist’s professionalization in modern Russia, the role of sociological research in the development of Astrakhan region and prospects of development of sociological research in Astrakhan State University.

The roundtable discussion involved 3rd- and 4th-year students of the Faculty of Social Communications of Astrakhan State University. They presented several reports, in particular “Single Voting Day: Tendencies of Electoral Behavior of Astrakhan Region Population”, “Labour Market Condition and Unemployment among Youth”, “Specificity of Urban Space Development by Graffiti and Street Art Community”, “Environmental Risks in Russians’ Public Opinion” and “Youth as Subject of Modern Russia’s Protest Movement”.

At the end of the meeting, the participants marked out the importance of interuniversity cooperation in sociological research and significance of activities of the Centre of Sociological Survey in the university’s development.
