Astrakhan State University Holds the First Caspian Model UN

On December 9, ASU held the official opening ceremony of the Week of Model UN Debates. Delegates will model the work of the UN General Assembly and address the issues of international cooperation, security, peace building and protection of human rights.

The event is supported by the United Nations Association of Russia and the Presidential Grant Foundation.

The Model UN Week brings together 140 participants from Grozny, Samara, Saratov, Sterlitamak (Bashkiria), students of the Astrakhan Branch of the International Law Institute, students of the Law Faculty, Biological Faculty, Faculty of Philology & Journalism, Faculty of Social Communications and Faculty of Foreign Languages of ASU and Astrakhan schoolchildren.

Welcoming the audience, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov stressed that representatives of the university have already reached certain heights in the area of international relations and may be proud of the fact that ASU students undertake traineeships at UN structures, while experts of UN interpreting units and diplomats, representing our country and other states, pay regular visits to our university.

The topic of the Caspian Model UN Debates is “Right for High-Quality Food Products and Non-GMO Life”.
